The Young Professionals of Cowley County periodically recognizes outstanding young professionals with the Rising Star Award. Nominees should be highly active in the community, committed to making a difference, involved in YP Cowley, and 21-40 years of age. Sarah Bryant, with Union State Bank, received the Rising Star award at the October YP Lunch ‘n’ Learn. Sarah Bryant served on the YP Board of Directors for three years, with her term ending in 2012.
Sarah Bryant, Vice President & Marketing Officer at Union State Bank, is a native of Arkansas City. She graduated from Ark City schools and went on to attend Cowley College and Friends University. Bryant holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration degree and also earned a marketing certificate from the Center for Management Development at Wichita State University’s Barton School of Business.
Bryant has been with Union State Bank for over 12 years and has served in a marketing position the last seven. She previously held positions in data processing, customer service, human resources and accounting. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Cowley College.
Bryant has continued giving back to her community through involvement with the local Chambers of Commerce, the Arkalalah Festival, the Miss Walnut Valley Scholarship Pageant, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Young Professionals of Cowley County and the Burford Center for the Arts (BCA), for which she was named volunteer of the year in 2006.
Sarah is also involved with the local performing arts community. She was an assistant instructor at both Entertainers Dance Academy and Dance Master Studio, taught dance classes for the Winfield Recreation Commission, worked as a cardiodance instructor at FitZone and was the Arkansas City High School Purple Paws dance coach for five seasons.
As a choreographer, she has developed routines for the Purple Paws as well as opening numbers for Cowley College’s Mr. Cinderfella and Arkalalah Coronation. Sarah has choreographed multiple productions for the ACHS theater and vocal departments as well as the after school program. This summer, she was a featured dancer for the BCA’s America’s Bandstand concert.
Sarah resides in Arkansas City with her spouse, Ricky Johnson, and their two children, Mick Bryant and Aubrey Johnson.
